BELGRADE - The State Patrol has released the name of a Brooten-Belgrade-Elrosa school teacher killed in an early morning accident. According to the patrol's report, a semi struck 38-year-old Richard Vos while riding his bike.

Vos was killed while riding their bike on Highway 71 in Kandiyohi County.

The State Patrol says a semi struck the bike just before 5:00 a.m. this (Monday) morning on Highway 71/County Road 34.

Superintendent Matthew Bullard says while he doesn't know details, grief counselors are on site:

Vos was a high school math teacher and head coach of the wrestling team.

In a posting on its blog, the school's booster club said Vos started as a teacher at the school in 1998 and was an assistant varsity wrestling coach until 2001, when he took over as head coach.

Numerous high school athletic events were called off Tuesday.

The driver of the semi was 50-year-old Brian Anderson of Belgrade.  He was not hurt.
