Berniece E. Swyter, 96, Paynesville

May 25, 1918 - March 23, 2015

A Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Grace United Methodist Church in Paynesville for Berniece E. Swyter, 96, of Paynesville, who died March 23, 2015. Reverend Richard Koehn will officiate. Burial will be in the Paynesville Cemetery.

Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Funeral arrangements are with the Daniel – Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville.

Berniece was born on May 25, 1918, in Brandt, SD, to Herbert R. and Minnie G. (Peterson) Stevenson. She was baptized on Dec. 4, 1922 in Revillo, SD. She married George Swyter on May 6, 1939, in Garner IA. Berniece and George farmed in Britt, IA. They co-owned a furniture and carpet store in Pine City, MN. Berniece and George operated a golf course and campground on Clearwater Lake in Annandale, MN. They later built a home on Clearwater Lake which they enjoyed, until she moved to Paynesville in 1986.

Berniece is survived by her daughter-in-law Carolyn Swyter; grand-daughter, Susan (Michael) Putzke; great-grandson Liam, all of Paynesville. She is also survived by brother Robert (Vicky) of Arizona and sister Ruth (John) Smeby of Mason City, IA; sister-in-law Alberta Stevenson; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son Dennis, brothers and sisters Hazel, Vera, Harlan, Gladys Delane, Mary Jean, Arnold, and Kenneth.

Memorials are preferred.
