Bernice A. Miller, 90, Long Prairie

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Thursday, April 16, 2015 at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Catholic Church for Bernice A. Miller, age 90, who passed away on Sunday at Valley View Assisted Living in Long Prairie. Rev. Omar Guanchez will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Long Prairie. Family and friends may call from 4-8 pm, Wednesday and after 8 am Thursday at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home – Stein Chapel, Long Prairie. St. Mary’s Catholic Women will pray the rosary at 4 pm and parish prayers at 4:30 pm in the funeral home on Wednesday.
Bernice Augusta Bruder was born October 27, 1924 in Reynolds Township, Todd County, Minnesota to August G. and Ruth C. (Stephan) Bruder. She married Leonard E. Miller on October 7, 1943 in Long Prairie. To this union five children were born, of whom four survive. Bernice and Leonard farmed in Iona Townshp, Todd County, until ill health forced retirement in 1973. They then moved to Ft. Ripley until Leonard’s passing in 1984. Bernice then moved briefly to St. Peter and Browerville before returning to Long Prairie.
Bernice loved sewing quilts, tending her flowers and gardening as well as playing cards.
Bernice is survived by her children, Diane (Meb) Quershi, David (Donna) Miller, Vernon (Janet) Miller, and Linda (Harvey) Bever. She was the proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Bernice is also survived two sisters, Isabelle Becker and Leona Bluhm and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Bruder, Juanita Bruder, and Gladys Miller.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, daughter Sandra, son-in-law Allan Palmquist, granddaughter Safiyun Quershi as well as three brothers, Ambrose, Emil, and Edward.
