Bernard George “Bud” Roman was born October 15, 1938 in Long Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Alex and Evie (Borgert) Roman. He was born, raised and lived his entire life in Long Prairie. Bud attended Long Prairie High School and he married Kathryn Mack on September 12, 1959 in Bemidji, Minnesota. They had three children, Stephen, Marcus, and Barbie. Bud served in the National Guard Reserve where he attained the rank of Sargent.

He mastered the trade of floorcovering installation in his younger years while working for Olson Furniture. He then took a job with Lux Hardware and Furniture. During his career there, Bud installed, was involved in selling and also management in various parts of the business.

He ventured out on his own in 1983 and opened Bud’s Floorcovering and Furniture. He owned and operated this business until his death on Wednesday.

Bud had two passions in his life, fishing and golf. If he hadn’t taught most people in Long Prairie how to fish, then he certainly let them know where the fish were biting, or you would have eaten some of his fish at one of his annual fish fry’s held at his home for many many years.
His passion for golf started when both sons started golfing at an early age. Bud played on “Men’s Night” at the Long Prairie Country Club for over 42 years. He and the family particiapated in many golf events through the years and also enjoyed watching golf.

We will miss our Dad dearly. He was a quiet man and the true leader of our family. He did most of his leading by example. He lived his life with a simple set of priorities, faith first, then family and friends.

Bud is survived by his sons, Steve (Jeri) Roman of Minot, ND; and Marcus Roman of Moorhead; daughter, Barbie (Dennis) Priem of Long Prairie; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Kasea, Taylor, McKenzie, Johanna, Alexander, Tabatha, and Jordan, and great-grandchildren, Leah and Camden.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy, daughter-in-law, Jeanne, brother Tom, and sister Clara.

Casketbearers will be Alex Roman, Jordan Priem, Paul Roman, Tom Zwack, Shaun Risse, and Matt Powell.
