SAUK RAPIDS -- Disappointing news for officials in Benton County and the city of Sauk Rapids after word a major road project was left out of the bonding bill.

Benton County Administrator Monty Headley says they knew they were late in the process in requesting $6,000,000 for the Benton County Road 3 project in the city of Sauk Rapids. Headley says they'll now regroup and figure out how to proceed.

Headley says some funding mechanisms to consider include half-cent sales tax dollars, a "wheelage tax", a 2015 bonding request and others.

The county administrator says the project known as "3 Up the Hill" is needed and they are committed to finding a viable funding plan.
