Benefit Scheduled to Support Family Who Lost 2 in Becker Crash
CLEAR LAKE -- A benefit will be held at St. Marcus Church in Clear Lake on Sunday to raise money for a local family affected by a deadly crash last month.
Proceeds from the benefit will go to the Maurer family from Becker, who lost 54-year-old Chuck and 10-year-old Cassy in a crash on Highway 10 just east of Becker in July.
"We wanted to help the family -- it's a very tragic situation and we wanted to do everything in our power to help them," says Melissa Fox of St. Marcus Church.
Fox coordinated the event that will feature a pork chop and brat dinner, silent auction, and plenty of kids' activities like bounce houses and a dunk tank.
Fox says she's been amazed by the support for the family shown by the church community and the community as a whole.
"It's been amazing," Fox says. "It's been really neat to see how everyone has come together the help them and be there for them."
The benefit will run from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Marcus Church located at 8701 Main Avenue in Clear Lake.
If you can't make it to Sunday's benefit, Fox says you can still help the Maurer family by sending donations to St. Marcus Church.
