Benedict J. “Ben” Bechtold, 72, Luxemburg

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at St. Wendelin’s Catholic Church in Luxemburg for Benedict J. “Ben” Bechtold, age 72, of Luxemburg who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND. Reverend Mitchell Bechtold will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Mary Hall in Luxemburg. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Ben was born on February 8, 1944 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Lawrence and Hildegard (Feneis) Bechtold. He married Joan Paul on May 13, 1965 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He co-founded, owned and operated Sentra-Sota Sheet Metal until retirement. Ben was volunteer fireman in St. Cloud, a member of Eagles Aerie #622 and St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, bean bags, spending time outdoors, and playing cards. He especially treasured all the time spent with his family and friends.

Ben is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Brenda (Joe) Heinen of Kimball, Laurie McLeod of Andover, Jeff (Debbie) of St. Cloud; grandchildren, Sara, Krista, Kayla, Nick, Casey, Tyler, Allison, Aaron, and Joshua; sisters and brothers, Rita Reker, Sr. Martha, OSB, Mary (Don) Prom, Lenny (Marcie), Roger (Nell), Millie (Lenny) Brunn, Hilde (Kerry) Manuel, Rose (Ron) Skudlarek, Eugene (Kathy), George (Marchia); sister-in-law, Karen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve in 1987; and brother, Larry.
