ST. CLOUD -- This week in our "Behind the Scenes" series on WJON, we prepare for a stay at the Gorecki Guest House.

Since 2009 the Gorecki Guest House at CentraCare Health has been providing over 12,000 guests a warm place to stay during difficult family times.

Guest come from all 87 counties in Minnesota, 50 states and 13 countries and typically stay an average 1-3 nights.

Gorecki Guest House specialist Sally Allen says there are two ways people hear about their services.

"They read about the house or a staff person will tell them and then when they receive materials about coming to the hospital for medical they receive some information," says Allen.

The set up is similar to what you may see in a hotel, with living room, library, kitchen and of course bedrooms.

"Most of the rooms are pretty basic with two twin beds, a recliner, some lamps," says Allen.

Ben and Dorothy Gorecki were main contributors to the guest house and thanks to their latest donation an expansion of the facility was constructed earlier this year.

"When it first open, we had twelve rooms on the second floor and our common living spaces, now we have added an additional 16 rooms, some TV lounges and another laundry," says Allen.

She says the guest house is a wonderful service to provide the community and a great partnership for the hospital.

"The guest house is a testament of the hospitality of the hospital, CentraCare Health and also the hospitality St. Cloud offers to people coming into our community," says Allen.

Room fees at the Gorecki Guest House are about $45-dollars. For more information or room availability you can call 320-251-2700, ext. 51774.
