ST. CLOUD -- This week in our "Behind the Scenes" series on WJON, we go inside Catholic Charities and see how they help serve the community.

Stretching across 16 counties in Minnesota, Catholic Charities is always ready to help people in need.

Executive Director Steve Bresnahan says their 40 programs reflex four core values for all adults, seniors and children.

"We believe people should not be without food, always have a safe place to live, they should have someone to lean on, and in some they should always have hope," says Bresnahan.

Each program provides a specific need in the community whether that's with the senior dining program, DOMUS transitional housing, mental health clinics, or the day treatment facility for children.

Bresnahan says if there is a need for a program and they don't already have it, they will try to bring something to the area.

"We focus on what is that thing we can do? Often an issue or a need has to be widespread and it takes a lot of resources to cover all that," says Bresnahan.

Catholic Charities has over 3,000 volunteers in their organization and Bresnahan says their willingness to help is what draws them back.

"The volunteers are here because in their soul they find they find a high purpose and a higher reason for being here," says Bresnahan.

And the St. Cloud community is a prime example of that call to service.
