FOLEY -- This week in our "Behind the Scenes" series on WJON, we go under the hood to repair your vehicle at Murphy Chevrolet in Foley.

Everyday Charlie Shiek and the other five service technicians spend hours on end making sure your vehicle runs smoothly.

"We will bring the vehicles in and put them on the hoist and usually we will get a work order with what they are requesting to have us work on," says Shiek.

As oil changes requests, tire rotations and other maintenance work orders come in, each vehicle is first put through a series of inspections.

"We look over the whole vehicle from air pressure, tires, brakes, all your fluids," says Shiek.

Once the inspection is completed the real work can begin. However, sometimes lack of parts can cause delays on the job.

"On something that is a common issue we stock a lot parts, but with order vehicles that have parts not as common we have to order them," says Shiek.

The job can be very labor intensive and each vehicle can take anywhere from 45 minutes to several hours, and Shiek says they don't just work on a few cars a day.

"Most of the time its probably five to ten cars a day depending on what's actually wrong with it," says Shiek.

Safety is their number one priority and while it may feel like an eternity as you sit in the waiting room, Shiek says it's all to make sure every driver drives home safely.
