ST. CLOUD -- Becker High School's Robotics team is working hard to get more students into the STEM fields.

They're hosting their 3rd annual JUMPSTART event at St. Cloud State University Saturday from 7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The day will kick-off with a large group meeting where we will bring in all of the students, mentors, and parents and introduce what they can expect from the day.

Maggie Maine is a Becker High School Business Teacher, and Assistant Coach on the robotics team. She says, while the Becker team is hosting the event, they actually bring a lot of people in.

"It's not just the Becker robotics team that presents at this JUMPSTART event. It's teams from all over [Central Minnesota]."

Maine says they have 30 different teams and over 540 participants attending the JUMPSTART event.

Lunch will be available and free for students and mentors, however family will be asked to pay the $7 for lunch.

Maine says another goal of the JUMPSTART day is to get the area robotics teams ready for the season, which kicks off in January 6th.
