ST. PAUL (AP) — Authorities in Ramsey County say at least 14 people have gone to hospitals with life-threatening conditions in recent days after consuming methamphetamine that was apparently tainted.

Some of the patients reported symptoms normally not seen by meth users, including hallucinations. The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office says one man thought he could fly and jumped off a second-story roof in St. Paul.

Sheriff's office spokesman Randy Gustufson says all 14 people treated since Thursday night are expected to recover. At Regions Hospital alone, the numbers marked a tenfold increase in the average daily number of drug overdose emergencies.

Authorities hope that the tainted supply is running out. Gustafson says authorities are also checking with other agencies, because there could be unreported cases.
