Barn Destroyed, Owner Hurt In Meeker County Fire
EDEN VALLEY - A pole barn has been destroyed in a fire near Eden Valley. The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says the fire was reported at about 7:00 p.m. last (Monday) night in Manannah Township.
Seventy-two-year-old owner Jopesh Scholtes had minor injuries in the fire, but was not taken to the hospital.
The barn and the property in it are all gone.
The cause of the fire is from the homeowner burning wood in a burn barrel a distance from the barn. The grass around the burn barrel caught fire and then caused the barn to catch fire. About four acres of grassland around the barn were also burned.
