Ballantine Gives Exit Interview on WJON

ST. CLOUD -- After 10 years of heading up the St. Cloud Police Department, Police Chief Dennis Ballantine calls it a career next week. Ballantine will retire as the Chief of Police Friday.

Speaking on WJON this morning, he says he's most proud of bridging the gap in St. Cloud's race relations.

Ballantine says other accomplishments include gaining support for a new police headquarters and developing a close working relationship with St. Cloud State University.

He says a big challenge was coordinating city policing services across three separate counties.

A citizens task force is being formed to conduct a search for Ballantine's replacement.
