MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Bail is set at $2 million for a Minnesota man charged with killing his 10-year-old son who disappeared nearly a month before his body was found in the Mississippi River.

Thirty-three-year-old Pierre Barlee Collins, of Crystal, made his first court appearance Wednesday, the day after he was charged with second-degree murder.

Reports say that in court, Collins spoke only to say his name, address and birth date. He will be represented by a public defender.

Prosecutors say Collins is the sole suspect in the death of his son Barway, whose body was found in the river last weekend.

Family members did not speak to reporters.

The next court appearance is scheduled May 14th. Authorities hope to present evidence to a grand jury for a possible first-degree murder indictment.
