Bad habits don’t have to be all bad. There are some that should definitely be given up forever like smoking, getting falling down drunk every weekend and not getting enough sleep, but there are some that may be OK, as long as it’s in moderation.

Blowing Off House Work

This is one bad habit I can totally get on board with. I hate chores. Laundry is OK and I like to cook. It’s just sweeping, vacuuming, dishes and cleaning the bathroom I hate, so I procrastinate as long as I can on those and it turns out, that’s OK. A recent study shows that what you do after work today can affect how you perform at work tomorrow. If we spend our after hours doing chores and other work, researchers discovered that we’re less relaxed than if we kicked back and relaxed with a glass of wine or a low impact activity like a light workout. We just have to make sure we mix it up so we don’t get too lazy.

Blowing Off Work

Sometimes, we just need a day off for no other reason than “just because”. Sure, we feel fine, but if you wake up and you’re mentally checked out, over tired or even hungover, take advantage of a day off. Did you know that workers in this country leave behind more than a week of paid time off every year? Even if you carry it over to the next year and hoard your vacation time, those who go on vacation every year have more job satisfaction and stay with their places of employment than those who stay put and go to work every day, so check out, call in and jammie it up.

Blowing Off Your Workout

I swim every day. Even though it’s cold as heck, I still go to the gym and get in the pool. Most days I swim for at least an hour and I know not everyone has that much time to spend an hour at the gym every day. Maybe you only have 10 or 20 minutes to work out, but it can still be done and you don’t always have to drive to the gym to do it. I am a huge fan of Fitness Blender. They have over 300 workouts ranging from a 10 minute fat burning high intensity workout all the way up to an 84 minute thousand calorie burn. Exercise TV is another good one, and one of the instructors is Chris Freytag who's from Minneapolis! That being said, if you do do just the 10 minutes, give 100 percent of those 10 minutes to get the most out of it.
