WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Senate Democrats today (Thursday) are taking a stand against tax breaks for big oil companies, at a time when gasoline is about $4 a gallon.

At a hearing, they've challenged oil company executives to justify those tax breaks.

Sixth District Congresswoman Michele Bachmann talked about those tax breaks with WJON today (Thursday).   She says they're necessary to prevent even higher prices at the pump.

Democrats acknowledged that their bill to repeal the tax breaks for the companies would not bring down the price of gasoline.
