ST. PAUL (AP) — A baby giraffe is making her public debut at the Como Zoo in St. Paul.

The six-foot-tall calf, named Skye, was born nearly three weeks ago, on Nov. 25, weighing in at 145 pounds. It marked the 18th giraffe birth at the zoo in the past two decades.

Zoo officials say Skye was standing within minutes of being born. She's the fifth calf for Daisy, joining the herd along with Clover and Skeeter, her father.

Skye's height is expected to double within the next two years and will continue to grow. The average height of a female giraffe is 15 feet.

The zoo allowed a randomly selected Como Friends supporter who gave $55 or more on Nov. 13, Give to the Max Day, to name the baby giraffe.
