MELROSE - A baby is safe and back together with its parents, after being abducted from the Melrose hospital this (Thursday) morning.

CentraCare Health spokeswoman Jeanine Nistler says the incident happened at about 9:00 a.m.

Nistler says the baby was found off the hospital grounds at about 9:55 a.m..

Police Chief Craig Maus says the baby was found with another family member and returned to the hospital by that family member. They have not made an arrest yet, but they believe it may have been another family member involved in the abduction. The case is being reviewed by the Stearns County Attorney's Office.

Stearns County Sheriff John Sanner says his department assisted with the incident. The Melrose Police Department is working with the Stearns County Attorney’s Office, Stearns County Human Services and the family to ensure the infant is taken care of and remains safe and healthy.
