MONTEVIDEO (AP) - Authorities are holding a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a Montevideo man.

Police officers who responded to a report of a fight Tuesday arrived to find that a 44-year-old Montevideo man had already been driven to a hospital with knife wounds. He later died of his injuries.

Police arrested the suspect at the scene, a 54-year-old Montevideo man. He's being held in the Chippewa County jail pending charges.

Police have not yet said how the two men knew each other or what led to the stabbing.

The victim's name has not been released.

Montevideo is about 130 miles west of Minneapolis.
