Jim Maurice

I’m a lifelong resident of this great state of Minnesota. I grew-up in the small West Central Community of Maynard.  After graduating from the Brown Institute of Radio Broadcasting, I began my professional career working nights at KDMA radio in Montevideo back in 1988.  In 1995, I moved to Redwood Falls and worked as the sports director for KLGR radio.  I eventually became their morning show co-host and program director. I’ve been working here at WJON in St. Cloud since 2005, and have been the news director since 2007.  The main beats that I cover include: politics, education, and local government. People often ask me, “What’s the best part of my job?”  The answer is that I get to meet a lot of great people, see a lot of cool places, and I never know from one day to the next what my day is going to bring. When I’m not tracking down the latest news story, you can most likely find me doing anything outdoors, whether it’s camping or boating in the summer, or snowmobiling in the winter.

St. Cloud Mayor Includes New Hires In 2015 Budget Proposal

Beer, Wine License Approved For St. Cloud Airport Restaurant

You can now enjoy a cold one, or a glass of wine, while waiting for your flight at the St. Cloud Regional Airport. The St. Cloud City Council this (Monday) evening approved an on-sale wine and 3.2 beer liquor license for JK Flyer's restaurant at the airport.

Minnesotans Asked To Go Vote On Tuesday In Primary Election

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is Primary Election day in Minnesota. Most polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Matt Lindstrom is a political science professor at the College of St. Benedict and St. John's University. He says the primary election is about a month early this year.

Burlington Coat Factory Moving Into Former Cash Wise Building

It's been rumored for months, and now it's offical, Burlington Coat Factory is coming to St. Cloud. Coborn's Communications Manager Rebecca Kurowski has confirmed that they signed a lease agreement with Burlington Coat Factory for a portion of their former Cash Wise building on 33rd Avenue South.
