Jim Maurice

I’m a lifelong resident of this great state of Minnesota. I grew-up in the small West Central Community of Maynard.  After graduating from the Brown Institute of Radio Broadcasting, I began my professional career working nights at KDMA radio in Montevideo back in 1988.  In 1995, I moved to Redwood Falls and worked as the sports director for KLGR radio.  I eventually became their morning show co-host and program director. I’ve been working here at WJON in St. Cloud since 2005, and have been the news director since 2007.  The main beats that I cover include: politics, education, and local government. People often ask me, “What’s the best part of my job?”  The answer is that I get to meet a lot of great people, see a lot of cool places, and I never know from one day to the next what my day is going to bring. When I’m not tracking down the latest news story, you can most likely find me doing anything outdoors, whether it’s camping or boating in the summer, or snowmobiling in the winter.

UPDATE: Missing Zimmerman Man Found, Safe

The Sherburne County Sheriff's Office says a missing Zimmerman man has been found and is doing well. They say 66-year-old Vinson Carlson was found this (Friday) afternoon.

Governor Mark Dayton has named St. Cloud police chief to a new task force aimed at protecting kids. Chief Blair Anderson is one of about two dozen people from across the state that will sit on the "Take Force on the Protection Of Children".

UPDATE: Albany Man Indicted For Death Of Infant Son

A Stearns County grand jury has indicted an Albany man on murder charges related to the death of his infant son. Thirty-two-year-old Robert Kaiser is facing one count of First Degree murder and two counts of Second Degree murder.

Bernick’s Donates $500K To Aquatic Center Project

Another half-million dollars has been collected for the planned new St. Cloud Area YMCA Aquatics and Community Center. Bernick's has announced it is donating $500,000 to the project. It's the largest gift Bernick's has donated to any single project.
