Jim Maurice

I’m a lifelong resident of this great state of Minnesota. I grew-up in the small West Central Community of Maynard.  After graduating from the Brown Institute of Radio Broadcasting, I began my professional career working nights at KDMA radio in Montevideo back in 1988.  In 1995, I moved to Redwood Falls and worked as the sports director for KLGR radio.  I eventually became their morning show co-host and program director. I’ve been working here at WJON in St. Cloud since 2005, and have been the news director since 2007.  The main beats that I cover include: politics, education, and local government. People often ask me, “What’s the best part of my job?”  The answer is that I get to meet a lot of great people, see a lot of cool places, and I never know from one day to the next what my day is going to bring. When I’m not tracking down the latest news story, you can most likely find me doing anything outdoors, whether it’s camping or boating in the summer, or snowmobiling in the winter.

St. Cloud Police Chief: Violent Crime Decreased in 2014, Compared to 2013

The number of serious crimes committed in St. Cloud in 2014 was down, compared to the year before. And, serious crimes remains flat over a five-year period. Police Chief Blair Anderson talked about the numbers during a presentation this (Monday) evening.

News @ Noon: 5th Avenue Live! Developers Buy, Renovating Old ‘Bank of St. Cloud’ Building

The developers of the 5th Avenue Live! in downtown St. Cloud are expanding the scope of the project. Lead Developer Brian Schoenborn says they recently bought the historic "Bank of St. Cloud" building at the corner of 5th Avenue and West St. Germain.

Developers Find New Site for Sauk Rapids Apartment Project

The developers of a planned Sauk Rapids apartment complex have found a new location. Kuepers Incorporated now have their sites on an area along 10th Avenue Northeast, just to the south of Fairview Gardens. The city council rejected their previous plan in the Villages of Creekside neighborhood after residents there voiced their objections.
