Jim Maurice

I’m a lifelong resident of this great state of Minnesota. I grew-up in the small West Central Community of Maynard.  After graduating from the Brown Institute of Radio Broadcasting, I began my professional career working nights at KDMA radio in Montevideo back in 1988.  In 1995, I moved to Redwood Falls and worked as the sports director for KLGR radio.  I eventually became their morning show co-host and program director. I’ve been working here at WJON in St. Cloud since 2005, and have been the news director since 2007.  The main beats that I cover include: politics, education, and local government. People often ask me, “What’s the best part of my job?”  The answer is that I get to meet a lot of great people, see a lot of cool places, and I never know from one day to the next what my day is going to bring. When I’m not tracking down the latest news story, you can most likely find me doing anything outdoors, whether it’s camping or boating in the summer, or snowmobiling in the winter.

6th District Candidates To Debate in St. Cloud

The candidates running for the 6th Congressional District will face each other in a debate in St. Cloud later this month. The St. Cloud Area Chamber of Commerce and the St. Cloud Rotary Club are co-hosting the event on Tuesday, October 21st at 12:30 p.m. at the Le St. Germain Hotel.

Marijuana Growing Operation Allegedly Found In St. Cloud Home

The Central Minnesota Violent Offenders Task Force used a search warrant yesterday (Tuesday) at the home on 58th Avenue in St. Cloud after investigators had gone to the house of 36-year-old Daniel Lommel of St. Cloud regarding a previous incident. As officers knocked on the door they smelled marijuana.

The ‘Little Brown Jug’ Is Coming To St. Cloud

It's been a long time since the Gopher football team has had possession of the traveling trophy the "Little Brown Jug" and they're ready to show it off. The Brown Jug is coming to the St. Cloud TCF Bank next Tuesday, October 14th. The bank at 200 25th Avenue South will have the trophy on display from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m.
