Timberwolves Introduce Budinger; NBA Draft Tonight

The Timberwolves introduced 6'7 guard/forward Chase Budinger at a press conference Wednesday afternoon. Budinger was traded for by the Wolves Tuesday when they sent the 18th overall pick in this year's draft to Houston for him and little known prospect 6'9 forward Lior Eliyahu. Budinger averaged 9.6 points a game in 2011-2012 with Houston. He played his first 2 seasons for then head coach Rick Adelman. Adelman is now the head coach for the Wolves.

White Sox Rout Twins 12-5

The Twins lost 12-5 at home to the Chicago White Sox Wednesday night. Nick Blackburn allowed 9 hits and 6 earned runs in 5 innings to take the loss and drop to 4-5. Jeff Manship allowed 3 earned runs in 1 inning. He was optioned to triple-A Rochester after the game. His ERA is 10.97. Darin Mastroianni hit a 2-run homerun and Brian Dozier went 1-3 with a solo homerun and 2 RBIs for Minnesota. Adam Dunn hit a 3-run homerun for the White Sox.

Honkers Beat Rox 9-2

The Rox lost at home to Rochester 9-2 Wednesday night. St. Cloud tied the game at 2 in the 6th inning before the Honkers scored 5 runs in the 7th inning. Jamie Simpson and Nick Rau were each 1-3 with 1 RBI for the Rox. Billy Soule threw 6 innings with 5 hits and 2 earned runs allowed but didn't figure in the final decision. Paul Schaak allowed 1 hit, 2 walks and 3 earned runs without retiring a hitter to take the loss.

Wild Road Tour Comes Through St. Cloud

The Minnesota Wild road tour came through St. Cloud Wednesday. Current players Nate Prosser and Jason Zucker and radio announcers Bob Kurtz and Tom Reid stopped at MAC to sign autographs and meet the public. Fans had a chance to play chuck-a-puck as well. Approximately 100 fans showed up to see the players. The crowd was less this year in part because of the lack of success the Wild have had lately and the still emerging names of Prosser and Zucker.

Lynx Handles Phoenix 96-80

The Minnesota Lynx defeated Phoenix 96-80 Wednesday night to improve to 13-1. Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson each scored 16 points and Brunson added 13 rebounds for the Lynx. Maya Moore had 15 points for Minnesota. The Lynx had 6 players score in double figures. Minnesota shot 45 percent from the field and Phoenix shot 35 percent.

Wild Road Tour In St. Cloud Today

The Minnesota Wild Road Tour will be stopping in St. Cloud today from 11am-1pm at the MAC. Current Wild players Nate Prosser and Jason Zucker and the radio broadcast team of Bob Kurtz and Tom Reid will be on hand for the event. The group will sign autographs and meet the public. People can play the interactive game chuck a puck at the event. The Granite City Cafe with Jay Caldwell and Lee Voss will broadcast live at the event from noon-2 today.

White Sox, Floyd Down Twins 3-2

The Chicago White Sox downed the Minnesota Twins 3-2 Tuesday night. Gavin Floyd threw 7 shutout innings with 5 hits allowed and 9 strikeouts to get the win. Jamey Carroll had a 2-run single in Minnesota's 2-run 9th inning but Denard Span grounded out to 2nd base to end the game. Liam Hendriks thew 6 1/3 innings with 5 hits and 3 earned runs allowed to take the loss and drop to 0-5. Alex Rios hit a 2-run homerun off Hendriks.

Rox End Losing Streak With Win Over Border Cats

The St. Cloud Rox snapped a 14-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over Thunder Bay at Joe Faber Field Tuesday night. Alex Roberts threw 2 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts to earn the win in relief. Adam Maxon threw a scoreless 9th inning to grab the save. St. Cloud came from down 2-0 with Jamie Simpson scoring the go-ahead run in the 8th inning on a wild pitch. Andy Henkemeyer was 3-4 with 1 RBI and Erik Kozel went 2-4 with a solo homerun and 2 runs scored for the Rox.
