CVS Pharmacy Opening Store in Albany This Summer

CVS Pharmacy is opening a store in Albany this summer. The CVS store will be at the corner of Railroad Road and 8th Street. City Administrator Tom Schneider says construction has started. The locally owned Albany Apothecary pharmacy isn't expecting the CVS to have much of an impact on them.

New Principal Coming to Lincoln Elementary

Lincoln Elementary School in St. Cloud will have a new principal next year. Beth LaCoursiere most recently served as an administrator in the Minneapolis School District. She will take over in the fall for Tina Lahr, who will be moving to Tech High School to become assistant principal.

Area College Students Set to Graduate this Weekend

The College of Saint Benedict, St. Cloud State University and Saint John's University are all hosting spring commencement ceremonies this weekend. More than 1,180 St. Cloud State students expected to participate in commencement ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The 100th annual commencement ceremony at the College of Saint Benedict is at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Clemens Field House.

Great River Regional Library Names Executive Director

The Great River Regional Library board of trustees have named Karen Pundsack as their permanent executive director. Pundsack has been serving as interim director since last July, she replaced former executive director Kristy Smith. She was one of three candidates interviewed in person following a nationwide candidate search.

St. Cloud State Transforming Q-Lot To Protect Mississippi River

St. Cloud State University is transforming one of its parking lots into a pollution reduction project to help protect Mississippi River water quality. A $196,000 grant from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency will makeover the Q-Lot, which is south of the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Two Taken to Emergency Room After St. Cloud Crash

Two people were taken to the hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in St. Cloud yesterday. The incident happened just after 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 23 and 33rd Avenue. Police say 33-year-old Lawrence Gave of Pease Minnesota was traveling east on Highway 23 approaching the intersection.

St. Cloud Area School District Discusses Possibly Buying St. Augusta Property

The St. Cloud Area School District discussed the possibility of buying 185 acres of property in St. Augusta. The land is about one mile south of Interstate 94 and would cost $750,000 ($4,054 per acre). The property was originally considered as a possible location for a new Tech High School.

St. Cloud Area School District Discusses 2016 Strategic Spending

Hiring a bullying prevention specialist, reducing class sizes and more staffing are included in just over $1.6 million of proposed District 742 strategic plan spending for next year. The funds would represent a small portion of the projected $124.6 million budget for the district in the 2016 fiscal year. The bullying prevention specialist would focus on North and South Junior High Schools. The district says their highest levels of bullying happen at the middle schools.

St. Cloud District Approves Sale of Colts Academy Building to St. Joseph

The St. Cloud Area School District has approved the sale of the Colts Academy building to St. Joseph for $2.3 million. The building used to be the Kennedy Community School and is at 124 1st Avenue Southeast. St. Joseph wants the building for a possible community center.
