SCSU Budget Plan Calls for $5.7 Million in Staff Reductions

St. Cloud State unveiled a plan to balance their 2017 budget on Thursday, which calls for $5.7 million in staff reductions. St. Cloud State Vice President Tammy McGee presented the budget plan. She says they will also need to lay off a handful of employees.

Proposed Renovation Plan for Clark Field Unveiled

New renovation designs and a fundraising plan with the goal of bringing varsity sports back to Clark Field were revealed Thursday morning. Members present from the District 742 school board remain on the fence with the plan.

Meeting to be Held on Lynden Township Well Water Tests

A meeting will be held on Thursday night in Lynden Township for residents who have concerns about their well water. Recent testing in the township showed naturally occurring metals that can create bacteria are likely the cause of a recent odor in a few wells.

Another Senior Living Facility Pitched to St. Joseph

After the news just last week that Country Manor is planning to bring a large senior living facility campus to St. Joseph, a second senior facility is being pitched to the city this week. In a letter to City Administrator Judy Weyrens, owner Tom Opatz is proposing a 45-unit senior living apartment building called "Fortitude Senior Living of St. Joseph".

Proposal For New Elementary School Likely Coming to Sauk Rapids-Rice

A plan for a new elementary school could be coming to the Sauk Rapids-Rice school district in the near future. A community task force made of 75 to 100 people is likely to recommend the Sauk Rapids-Rice School District build a new elementary school when they present to the board in June.
