UPDATE: 11 Apply For Open District 742 School Board Seat

Eleven people have applied for the open school board seat in the St. Cloud area school district. The seat was left open after Cindy Harner resigned last month. Harner decided to step down after being arrested on suspicion of 4th degree DWI and 3rd Degree Test Refusal.

St. Cloud Vietnam Veterans Group Installs Four Tattered Flag Dropboxes

There's now an easy way to properly dispose your old American flag in St. Cloud. The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 290 has put in four flag dropboxes at St. Cloud City Hall, the Whitney Center, Eastside VFW and Texas Roadhouse restaurant. Chapter 290 member James Kowitz says there's a proper procedue for burning American flags that many people don't know about.

No Wake Request Placed on Two Rivers Lake

The Stearns County Sheriff's Office has placed a "No Wake" request for Two Rivers Lake until water levels go down. Due to the large amount of rain over the weekend, the water levels on the lake rose very fast and caused high water and flooding issues.

UPDATE: 19-Year-Old From Browerville Killed in Long Prairie Rollover

A 19-year-old from Browerville is dead after a rollover in Todd County on Monday morning. The State Patrol says the incident happened just after 5:15 a.m. on Highway 71 South in Long Prairie. The identity of the person killed hasn't been released.

Central Minnesota Teacher Spends Retirement Money on Buddy Bench For Students

Instead of using her money for a retirement party, a longstanding Eden Valley-Watkins Elementary teacher left a lasting gift for future students. Mary Huberty taught in the Eden Valley-Watkins area for the past 28 years. She retired this spring and wanted to leave a positive gift for future students.

Sartell Fitness Closing This Month, Dollar Tree Moving In

Sartell Fitness-The Shake Shoppe is closing its doors in a few weeks. Owner Stuart Swenson says the gym is closing because he signed a lease with Dollar Tree. He says the gym will sell off its equipment later this month. Sartell Fitness is at 1090 2nd Street South.

Lightning Strike Believed to Cause House Fire in Rice

A lightning strike is believed to have caused a house fire in Rice on Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters responded just before 2:00 p.m. at 150 First Street Southwest. Rice Fire Chief Scott Janski says several witnesses reported hearing a loud boom before the fire started.

Grove City Shed Fire Causes $250-$300K in Damages

A shed fire at a Grove City business caused $250,000-$300,000 in damages. Departments responded just after 1:00 p.m. in the 56100 block of U.S. Highway 12 for a fire at D and D Ventures. The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says the fire was in a wood shavings storage shed.

Manufacturing Jobs Growing in St. Cloud and Greater Minnesota

Minnesota manufacturers are hiring more and are paying higher wages, according to a new survey. The seventh annual State of Manufacturing survey was presented in St. Cloud on Tuesday. Enterprise Minnesota CEO Bob Kill says manufacturers in St. Cloud and greater Minnesota will likely continue to create more jobs.
