Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2018 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids for August (Mike) Winczewski, age 88, of Sauk Rapids who passed away Wednesday at Arlington Place in St. Joseph. Chaplain James Neppl will officiate and burial will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Monday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

Mike was born Feb. 28, 1929 in Dickinson, ND to John & Anna (Rudnick) Winczewski. He graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School in 1948. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War, received the Purple Heart, and was part of the Chosen Reservoir. Mike married Betty Kutzorik on Nov. 15, 1957 in Iowa and they have lived in Sauk Rapids since their marriage. He worked at Intrusion Pre-Pack Construction in Chicago prior to working in maintenance for DeZurik’s for over 25 years, retiring in 1992. Mike was a member of Sauk Rapids American Legion Post #254, Sauk Rapids VFW Post #6992, Marine Corps League, Wild Turkey Federation, MN Deer Hunters Association and Pheasants Forever. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, volunteering at the VA Medical Center and Marine Corps breakfasts. Mike had a great sense of humor, was a dedicated Marine, family orientated, and a great father and grandfather. He loved all his dogs.

Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty of Sauk Rapids; son and daughter, Michael (Julie) Winczewski of Sauk Rapids and Jean (Greg) Wentworth of St. Cloud; brother, Ed Winczewski of Cold Spring; grandchildren, Tyler (McKayla) and Jordan (Anna); and great grandchildren, Blake and Blair. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George; infant sister, Do lores; and sister-in-law, Leona Winczewski.
