STAPLES - A Staples man escaped injury when the ATV he was driving fell through the ice in Morrison County.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened at about 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Narrow of Lake Alexander.

Thirty-three-year-old Brent Sorenson drove his ATV across the Thoroughfare  Bay on Lake Alexander and went past the narrows, and decided to go back. Sorenson then drove his ATV on the south side of the narrows when he drove across thin ice. The ATV, and the portable fish house he was pulling, broke through the ice.

He was able to pull himself out and go to a nearby fish house and call for help.
