ST. CLOUD - An art gallery focusing on glass pipe artwork is coming to the old Flat Iron Building in St. Cloud later this summer.

The Trepanation Art Gallery will have local art and glass pipes for sale. The St. Cloud city council approved a tobacco license for the gallery on Monday night. Owner Travis Pinney says art is important in a growing community like St. Cloud.

"I've lived in St. Cloud all my life and I want to see it grow and prosper and I think part of that is local art, which is what we're trying to do here-with an emphasis on the glass artwork."

The old Flat Iron Building is at 202 8th Avenue North. Pinney says they plan to take advantage of its numerous windows.

"I'm really excited to use the windows and let in all that natural light in there and show the natural beauty of glass artwork."

Pinney says they hope to open early next month and that they're excited to operate out of the building.

"Once we heard the building was open, we wanted to jump on it, I'm facinated with the look of brick in general. There will be room on the inside and outside of it for people to talk about art."

The gallery will be an 18+ venue.
