AVON -- The Avon community is gearing up for a weekend full of fun as they celebrate their 27th Annual Spunktacular Days Friday and Saturday.

This year's theme is "Celebrate Freedom." Co-Chair Jackie Dahlin says this year's theme has a special meaning for one family, who won the medallion hunt.

"The Hoffman family found the medallion and what's really unique about this is the Lion's Club and local business got together a bought a ticket for the kids father to come home from deployment to be here this weekend," says Dahlin.

Friday's events include live music from Walter's Wheelhouse, food court and beer garden and Kiddie Parade.

Saturday's lineup includes a Craft Fair, 6th Annual Lady Slipper Nature Ride, Variety Show, live music, kids activities and the Parade.

Co-Chair Mary Eisenschenk says it's amazing the amount of community support the festival brings every year.

"We have many local businesses that pay for our fireworks display and sponsor our events. Our business community very generous to this event," says Eisenschenk.

The city celebration wraps up with a fireworks display at dusk. Avon Spunktacular Days can be found at Lake Wobegon Park.
