Area Road Construction Work Will Be Halted in Government Shutdown, Says Mayor Kleis [AUDIO]

ST. CLOUD – A government shutdown looming large for July 1st would affect local road construction efforts.
If Republicans and Governor Dayton do not reach a budget compromise, a number of services will be interrupted, including construction work on the West Metro Corridor.
St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis talked with WJON’s Bob Hughes this morning. He says state funding for the construction would be paused in the event of a shutdown.

Kleis says a shutdown would also affect the roundabout project at University and 5th. If MnDOT does not sign off on the project, and government shuts down on July 1st, the project will not be started.
