ST. CLOUD - District 742 has found a new soccer coach for the Apollo High School boys soccer team.

Adbikhani (Seyga) Omar Mohamed will take the place of Ganard Orionzi, whose contract was allowed to expire earlier this summer.

Mohamed has played soccer for more than 25 years and professionally for nine years. While living in Somalia, he played against countries like Djabouti, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria and Ethiopia.

He came to St. Cloud in 2009 and immediately started working as a coach for Somali youth and travel teams. During that time he's coached three different teams: FC GarGaar-St. Cloud, Qaran, and the St. Cloud Stars. Seyga is very active and respected in the St. Cloud Somali community.

The district also announced it's head girls soccer coach and boys assistant soccer coach for Apollo High School on Thursday.

Mark Timpane will become head coach of the girls soccer program. He has coached district junior high girls teams the past two seasons. He has coached youth sports for over 12 years.

Samatar Nur will be the boys assistant soccer coach. Samatur has coached youth soccer locally and worked for District 742 for six years, most recently as cultural navigator at Apollo.
