Anton “Tony” Ternes, age 79, of Zimmerman, MN, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at his home. He was born on June 30, 1935 in Strasburg, ND, the son of Romanus and Celestina (Wagner) Ternes.

Tony grew up in North Dakota, the 3rd youngest of 14 children. Tony lived in North Dakota until he entered the United States Army. Following his discharge he lived in Iowa for a short time then later moved to Minneapolis where he met and was united in marriage to Linda “Mary” Dehne on December 23, 1978 in Brooklyn Park, MN. The couple moved to the Zimmerman area following their marriage and have lived there since. Tony was a musician, playing lead guitar for many bands, most notably the Mark Alan Band. In his spare time, Tony loved treasure hunting with his metal detector. He was a wonderful mechanic; Tony could fix anything with “The Ternes Patent”. He also had a remarkable memory and was an avid storyteller. He will be dearly missed.

Tony is survived by his wife Linda; children, William (Laurie), Anton (Amanda), Michael (Melissa); grandchildren, Lindsey, Kristy, Skylar and Bryce; siblings Edmond (Lois) and Tess (Neil); along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Agnes Krumm; granddaughter Lucy; brothers, Aloysius, August, Oswald, Bob, Isadore, Bernard and Ray; and sisters, Cecilia, Sybella, Olivia and Rose.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Princeton. A Funeral Service will begin at 7PM on Thursday. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 10:15AM.
