The Mass of Christian Burial, celebrating the life of Anthony “Tony” Rueter, age 86 of St. Cloud will be 11:00 PM, Thursday, October 8 at the Church of St. Anthony in St. Cloud. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at Camp Ripley. Friends may gather after 10:00 AM Thursday until the time of the service at the church in St. Cloud. Arrangements are being made by the Miller-Carlin Funeral Homes, St. Cloud.

Tony was born July 12 1929 in St. Cloud, MN to Anton and Margaret (Eveslage) Rueter. After graduation from Technical high school, Tony served his country in the United States Army from Jan. 1948 to Oct. 1951. He was a member of the second division military police stationed in Tacoma Washington. He was deployed to the war in Korea from Aug. 1950 to Oct. 1951. and was awarded a bronze star. After an honorable discharge, he married Alice Heimenz, on Nov. 5 1951 at St. Anthony’s church in St. Cloud, MN. Tony was employed as a correctional officer for 31 years at the Minnesota Correctional Facility for Men, in St. Cloud. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed the outdoors. He traveled by car on many trips to the western US as well as Alaska. Tony was proud of his family and enjoyed summer fishing trips to resorts. His grandchildren were a special joy. He was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church, he was a life member of the VFW post 428 and he was a member of the retired correctional officers association.

He is survived by his wife Alice; sons, James (Lestie) Rueter; Randy (Anna) Rueter ; daughters, Karen (Steve) Lorenz; Sharon (Greg) Wagner; Son in law Steve Farrris; Nine grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, John, Ferdinand, Joesph and Herman; 2 sisters, Agnes Neiles and Marie LeVasseaur; his daughter, Joan Farris and Granddaughter Jennifer Lorenz.
