ANOKA (AP) - Anoka will host a celebration this fall for the rollout of Halloween-themed stamps by the United States Postal Service.

The city has been picked as the host city for the "First Day of Issue" celebration for the jack-o'-lantern stamps. The four-stamp set rolls out Sept. 29.

Anoka civic and nonprofit leaders lobbied the Postal Service for the honor after learning jack-o'-lantern stamps would get issued this year. The city has hosted an annual Halloween celebration for nearly a century.

Those who attend the Sept. 29 First Day of Issue event can buy the stamps and special cancellation envelopes.
