The annual Hot Rod Kickoff begins this Saturday in support of brain cancer research.

Each year the Melrose community holds a festival to support brain cancer research due to the numerous people in Melrose and the surrounding area that have died from brain cancer.

The tradition was started by Melrose community members several years ago and has turned into an annual tradition.

This year's headliner is Jeff McMahon who performed in a band with Tim McGraw, and is also the head of the Tug McGraw foundation. Tug McGraw was a former major league baseball pitcher and father of Tim McGraw. He died from brain cancer in 2004.

In addition to live music there will also be a car show and food.

This event is open to the public. For more information you can check out Hotrodcookoff.com.
