Families Evacuated From Apartment After Hit and Run Accident

ST. CLOUD -- Families were removed from an apartment building last night (Sunday) after a car crashed into an outside wall around 8:55 p.m.

The crash happened in the 1400 block of 12th Avenue North in St. Cloud.

Officers say 18-year-old Violet Hopkins lost control of the car after taking a corner too fast.

She hit the apartment complex and fled the scene. Six families were removed from the building due to safety concerns.

Police later arrested and released Hopkins who was cited for Reckless Driving, Hit and Run Accident and No Valid Driver's License.

The City Health and Inspections evaluated the building after the crash.

The Red Cross provided shelter for the families who were removed.
