Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake for Alvin J. Jochum, age 83, who passed away in his sleep at his home on Monday. Rev. Thomas Becker will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Alvin was born November 9, 1933 in Avon, Minnesota to Joseph & Frances (Bloch) Jochum. Alvin grew up in Mayhew Lake, Minnesota and over a span of 62 years farmed with his lifelong friend, Richard Rajkowski. Alvin was a kind and loving man that only had kind words everyone. He enjoyed frequent trips to the casino and card games at home with friends. He was an avid cribbage player and offered a game to whomever was up for the challenge. He was in the Army Reserves and was a lifetime member of the Sauk Rapids Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling, and a game of horseshoes. Alvin was a religious man and was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church in Mayhew Lake. Alvin had a big heart and will be missed by all. Rich Rajkowski recently passed away on March 14, 2017. They are now together in spirit.

Survivors include his siblings, Kathleen Lewellyn (Marv Gerads) of Sartell, Joseph (Becky) Jochum, Jr. of Minneapolis, Kenneth (Bernice) Jochum of Sartell and Mary (John) Beach of Deerwood; sister-in-law, Elaine Jochum of St. Cloud; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; longtime friend and brother-in-law, Rich Rajkowski; siblings and spouses, Lorraine & Lawrence Rajkowski, Angeline & Henry Rajkowski, Delores & Richard Schreder, Darlene & John Riedeman and Eugene Jochum; brother-in-law, Darrel Lewellyn; nieces, Helen Lofgren, Mary Rajkowski and Patty Schreder; and nephews, Everett Beach, John, Ron and David Rajkowski, and Scott Riedeman.

The family would like to thank Dan Bemboom, Sue & Mike Rajkowski, Ed & Carol Rajkowski, Tim & Gloria Rajkowski, all the friends, neighbors, and card buddies who took such good care of Alvin and Rich.
