ST. CLOUD -- A man who allegedly stole a car this morning, crashed it, and then stole another car evaded police in a chase and remains at large.

The St. Cloud Police Department responded to a report of a stolen car just after 8:30 a.m. today (Saturday) in the 3000 block of West Saint Germain Street.

The stolen vehicle was a Chevrolet Impala that had been left running with the keys in the ignition.

On the way to the call, police saw the stolen car run a stop sign at 33rd Street South and crash into an oncoming car.

Officers say the passengers in the oncoming car were not hurt in the crash.

The crash caused the suspect's vehicle to roll over, and the suspect was seen running from the scene on foot towards the 1800 block of Red River Trail.

Officers set up a perimeter after getting information from citizens on which direction the suspect was fleeing.

While officers waited for a K-9 unit, the suspect reportedly entered an unoccupied house in the 1800 block of Red River Trail and stole a maroon 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck.

The truck was seen by officers leaving the area going southbound on Cooper Avenue, but was not pursued - as the unsuspecting officers continued their search of the perimeter.

Police believe the suspect crashed through a fence at the end of Cooper Avenue to go off-road to I-94, where the suspect appeared to have headed westbound on the interstate.

At this time, the suspect is still at large.

Officers say the suspect is a white man in his mid-20s with dark hair and wearing a black jacket and the truck he stole has a topper and the license plate number 062-NDJ.

If you have any information on the suspect, or have seen the maroon truck, you are urged to call the St. Cloud Police Department at 320-251-1200 or Tri-County Crimestoppers at 320-255-1301.
