Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2015 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud for Alice Mary Lauer, age 89 of St. Cloud, who passed away at her home from pancreatic cancer on Sunday, April 26, 2015 with her family by her side. Reverend LeRoy Scheierl will officiate. Burial will take place in Assumption Cemetery in St. Cloud.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the Church. Parish prayers will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Alice was born on August 11, 1925, in Richmond, Minnesota to Henry and Frances (Braegelmann) Torborg, the oldest of eleven children. She graduated from Stanbrook High School before attending St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Duluth. Alice worked as a Registered Nurse in Duluth, St. Cloud, Faribault, St. Paul, and Staples.

Alice married Al on October 29, 1955, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in Richmond, Minnesota. She was a devoted wife, and together they had seven children: Joe (Kathy), Waunakee, WI; Mary, South Saint Paul; John, Little Falls; Kathy McLaughlin (Fran), Maple Grove; Terry (Tamara), Minneapolis; Mark (Barbara), Portland, OR; and Mike (Kathy), Golden Valley. She had 14 grandchildren.

Alice loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a woman of strong faith, a wonderful mother, and an amazing cook. She was an active volunteer in her community and enjoyed playing bridge. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Al in 2012; her brothers, Norbert and Alfred; her sisters, Monica and Trudy; her sisters-in-law, Kathy (Nett) Torborg and Joanne (Stang) Torborg; and her brother-in-law, Ralph Evens.
