Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00AM, October 10, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anna for Alfred “Fritz” Schwalbe, 92, of Avon, who died Saturday at Mother of Mercy, Avon. Rev. David Grundman will officiate and burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives may call from 4:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday, October 9, 2015 and one hour prior to services on Saturday all at the church. Parish prayers will be at 4:30PM followed with Christian Women prayers at 5:00PM.

Alfred was born on June 23, 1923 in Avon to Paul and Teckla (Halama) Schwalbe. He married Mary Streit on November 28, 1957 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Anna. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Trustee at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for over 30 years. Alfred was also a member of Catholic Order of Foresters. He enjoyed fishing especially annual trips to Canada with his brothers, bowling, gardening, and trips to the casino. Alfred was strong in his faith, family and farming. He was an upbeat, outgoing, warm hearted person who was always ready to help others.

Survivors include his children, Dan (Kathy) Schwalbe of Hamel, Tony (Nancy) Schwalbe of Avon, John (Carolyn) Schwalbe of Pittsburgh, PA, George (Jenny) Schwalbe of Avon; daughter in law, Mary Jo Schwalbe of Fargo; son in law, Bill Prince of St. Joseph; siblings, Evelyn Kramek of Detroit, MI., Alma Chaika of St. Cloud, Doris Evans of St. Cloud, James “Jimmy” (Carol) Schwalbe of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Anne Schwalbe, Bob Schwalbe, Scott Schwalbe, Jay Schwalbe, Marie Schwalbe, James Prince, Cassandra Prince, Kristin Schwalbe, Kevin Schwalbe and Eli Schwalbe.

Alfred was preceded in death by his wife Mary on May 9, 2015; parents; children, Robert Schwalbe, Casper Schwalbe, Yvonne Prince, Betty Ann Schwalbe; siblings, Clara Streit, Irene Jarnot, Joe Schwalba, Larry Schwalbe and Cyril Schwalbe.
