DULUTH (AP) - Authorities say a 22-year-old University of Minnesota Duluth student found dead in a creek was drinking before he slipped from a trail and fell 75 feet.

The body of Kyle Noble of Baudette was recovered Saturday afternoon from Chester Creek in Duluth.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said Monday that Noble was last seen by a family member about 2 a.m. Saturday. He left that relative's residence for his home and fell from the trail sometime afterward.

Authorities say there does not appear to be any foul play, and alcohol was a factor. Autopsy results are pending, but authorities say Noble's death appears accidental. Personnel who pulled him from the creek noticed obvious head injuries.

Noble was studying mechanical engineering at UMD.
