ST. CLOUD - The topic of drinking alcohol will be up for discussion tonight (Monday) during the St. Cloud city council's work study session.

One item involves the presence of 18-20 year olds where alcohol is being served.  Right now, the intermingling of underage and legal age adults is allowed.  The council will discuss whether they want to change the city's ordinance to create a separation between the two groups, in an effort to ensure alcohol is not being served, supplied, or passed on to underage people.

The other item to be discussed is the issue of drink specials in the city's bars and restaurants.  The idea of restricting drink specials was voted down by the council back in 2010, when it was opposed by the Hospitality Association.  At the time the group agreed to monitor themselves.  Tonight the council will discuss whether that's actually happening.

Since this is a work study session, the city council will not vote on these issues tonight, but instead will discuss if they want to bring the possible ordinance changes to regular council meeting for further discussion.
