FALCON HEIGHTS (AP) — The Minnesota State Fair is raising admission prices by a dollar.

Tickets at the gate of the Great Minnesota Get-Together will now cost $13 for adults and $11 for seniors 65 and older and kids 5-12. Children under 5 are still admitted for free.

The $1 increase also applies to advance tickets. Everyone 5 and older will now pay $10.

The previous price hikes came in 2011 for admission at the gate and in 2009 for advance ticket purchases.

Fair CEO Jerry Hammer says the fair's costs continue to go up every year. He points to improvements throughout the grounds and expenses in accommodating food vendors.

The fair continues to offer discounted admission days.

The 2014 fair runs from Aug. 21 to Labor Day, Sept. 1.
