A Year In, E-Pull Tabs Failing Miserably in Minnesota

ST. PAUL (AP) - Minnesota's attempt to use electronic gambling in bars as a Vikings stadium revenue source has proven to be a bust.

Even Gov. Mark Dayton admits as much in a report analyzing how early assumptions proved so wrong.

Dayton says multiple mistakes caused the first year to be rocky and produce far less money than expected. Dayton says in hindsight revenue and gambling officials were "terribly wrong" with predictions but he doesn't believe they acted in bad faith. Minnesota has now shifted to back-up funding sources for its share of the $975 million stadium.

When the stadium bill was approved, there were estimates that 2,500 bars would install more than 15,000 games. The latest count has about 300 bars and about 1,300 games.
