A 17-Year-Old St. Cloud Boy Injured After Fleeing Sheriff’s Deputies
STEARNS COUNTY -- A 17-year-old St. Cloud boy suffered injuries after fleeing from deputies last night (Sunday).
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office says a deputy made a traffic stop around 8:00 p.m. just north of 43rd Avenue in St. Augusta.
The boy driver showed signs of being drunk. When the deputy asked the driver to step out of the car for a field sobriety test he put the car back in gear and fled. A chase ensued along Highway 15 and then north of Luxemburg.
The car was passing over other vehicles causing a truck to drive into the ditch. The chase continued along Highway 15 through St. Cloud.
The boy jumped out of the still moving car near the I-94 overpass. Deputies say the car continued for several hundred more feet.
The boy was treated on the scene for his injuries and later taken to St. Cloud hospital.
