New Minn. Teacher of the Year to be announced
by The Associated Press
ST. PAUL -- A new Minnesota Teacher of the Year will be announced Tuesday.
Education Minnesota, the state teachers union, had to come up with a replacement after 2008 Teacher of the Year Carleen Gulstad resigned her title for personal reasons.
The selection panel reconvened this summer, deliberated and selected a new Teacher of the Year.
The Teacher of the Year serves as a spokesperson for teachers and teaching in Minnesota, and will be Minnesota's nominee for National Teacher of the Year for 2009.
