Storms bring Minn. tornado reports, warnings
by The Associated Press

MINNEAPOLIS -- A storm system that pushed through the upper Midwest produced reports of weak tornadoes in rural areas northwest of the Twin Cities, but the main damage was to trees that were knocked down by high winds.

The storms yesterday afternoon also brought heavy rains to parts of the metro area.

The National Weather Service says a tornado touched down near a barn east of Becker in Sherburne County, knocking down several oak trees. Another tornado was reported to have touched down briefly in the vicinity of Big Lake, also in Sherburne County.

The forecast calls for partly sunny skies across Minnesota today, but with a chance of showers and storms in the north and a slight chance in the south. High temperatures should be in the mid 70s in the north and mid 60s in the south.
