Woman fatally shot in New Brighton

NEW BRIGHTON -- Police are searching for the man who fatally shot a woman outside a home in New Brighton.

The 48-year-old woman was shot in the abdomen. A dispatch supervisor says she later died at a hospital. Her name has not been released.

Police say the suspect also shot at another member of the victim's family, but that person was not hurt.

The suspect remains at large. He's described as a 21-year-old white man, standing 5-feet-9 and weighing about 140 pounds. Police say he may be driving a silver Toyota Corolla with Minnesota license plate number XTX-016.

Police say the suspect may still have a handgun and should not be approached.
